An Aloha Anniversary- Day 2

The Saga Continues:

We woke up so early! We laid in bed until 6am (11am Texas time) and saw the sun peak through the shutters. We spent about 30 minutes on the balcony watching the sun rise & trying to decide what to do about breakfast. We decided to go to a little surfer town and eat at Hale’iwa Cafe (thank you Urban Spoon). So before 7am we were on the road.

Breakfast was great and the town was so cute! DSC_0989

After breakfast, we went to the Dole Pineapple Plantation. We got there before it opened which was really smart actually. Because we left before noon and it was crazy busy. Super touristy… but it wasn’t when we first got there…

We took the walking tour of the Garden with the audio tour. Hawaii is so big on their audio tours. When we went to Pearl Harbor, I opted not to do the audio tour on the submarine the “Bowfin” and the lady looked a little insulted. Anyway… the garden was gorgeous!

Inside the shop they had a stand where you could “dive for pearls”. It was so fun. We got a black pearl and a yellow pearl. I kept the black pearl to make into a piece of anniversary jewelry, maybe a ring or a necklace, and gave the yellow one to my Mama.

We went on the train to take a tour of the plantation:

We kept seeing these signs for the World Famous “Dole Whip”. Neither one of us had ever heard of it before but it looked yummy! It tasted yummy too. It’s a pineapple soft serve ice cream. Not sure if we can get here in Texas but if you find yourself in Hawaii go check it out.

We went back to the Hale’wia to go to the grocery store and get a few snack type items to have at the hotel. They had Spam Sushi next to the fried chicken. Didn’t try it, but had to snap a picture.

We went back to the hotel and finished the day by the beach.

I wish I was still there… :)

Stay tuned: Day 3… Pearl Harbor!

I didn't know that's how pineapples gres! That is so cool you get to keep the pearls. That will be a great momento.
